PEDRO

This is Pedro, our peacock blue Ford Transit van, and our home for most of the next year.

We found Pedro through Quirky campers, he had been lovingly converted by Josh using up-cycled materials – the tiles from his parent’s roof are our ‘kitchen’ backsplash (there is a link to check him out at the bottom of the page, he’s currently converting a 30-year-old horse box to use as his own home).

He's a 2012 model, with 95k miles on the clock which we intend to considerably add to. He had been originally purchased as an old builders' van in great condition, and Josh stripped it down and converted the back into a rustic wooden camper.

Also with a lot of help from Emily's family (Geoff, Char & Jamie), some modifications were made to install a solar panel, a ladder, and a bench/viewing deck on the roof which I guess is our garden?

To help us spend as many nights in Pedro as possible, we've got a solar panel, diesel heater, a portable boiler shower, a composting toilet, and spare water tanks, so we reckon we can take Pedro off-grid for around a week before needing to restock, a surprising amount has been fit into this little van...

Kitchen space: 2 burner hob with a drawer and cupboard underneath, hidden fridge cupboard, sink with running tap from a 25L water tank.

Living/sleeping space: bench seating for 3 with under-seat storage, sky-light, roof-high cupboards along one wall, the bed is a (small) single that slides out into a (very small) double, slide-out dining table.

Other: the front cab seats 3 and the 'garage' has plenty of room for our spare van parts, spare water, and diesel, shower, toilet etc.

In reality, all of these separate 'spaces', are of course all within the same 7 square meters!
