The Pantanal
The Jaguars
The first sighting!!!
We caught jaguar number one sneaking up on sleeping jaguar number two. They fought, and in the end both shared the caiman that jaguar two had earlier killed.Â

Caiman in their jaws
Jaguar number three must have been vegetarian, we stopped to watch as it walked back and forth eating grass at the riverbank.
Jaguar number 4 briefly walked and then began sleeping
Jaguar number five
We originally noticed the tapir, ecstatic because we had wanted to see one of these strange animals in the wild. It became clear that the tapir had been spotted by a jaguar before us, unfortunately. This jaguar was panting heavily, it seemed like it had only just made the kill and was taking a rest keeping a watchful eye over it. Â
Jaguars number six and seven. Only six is pictured here. Seven was a little further back in the distance. We didn't get a good view of these two as they were further into the bushes, but we could see their cute front and rear toe pads. Six has a cut tail which is visible in the photo. We noticed jaguar number one also had this cut tail so we think that five is also the same as number one.
Jaguar number eight (or seven...)
This one was a juvenile, it was very wary of us and didn't hang around for long after we spotted it. We managed to get a really close look which was amazing. It had either a cut paw or nose as it had blood on both.
Giant River Otters
One of our favourite experiences! This family of giant river otters played and groomed each other right in front of us. We watched for 10 minutes and left them to it.
